We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master. —Ernest Hemingway

Who Jane Is.

Hey there, I’m Jane Rucker. Right off the bat, I’m a Jesus girl—a young-at-heart senior with fresh purpose and vision. I love my family, my friends, my cat, and I love living among the gently rolling Ozark mountains in southern Missouri.

I grew up in Hannibal, MO, the boyhood home of Mark Twain. My childhood was filled with books and words and poetry and stories. The craft of writing stole my heart when I was ten years old. I’ve never stopped.

Where Jane Is.

I love the Ozark Mountains! What a blessing it is to call them home. Life has taken me to many “exotic” places to live out much of my life–Oklahoma, southern California, and Alabama!

But as a child my heart latched onto these Ozarks. A family vacation here when I was a young child did it. After a lifetime in other places, I made my way back. Indeed, I have come home.

What Jane Does.

To put it simply, I write, I edit, I coach. I’m even a published author. For more than 11 years I have helped people get their great stories or messages developed, written, and published. Through the years I have come to love and appreciate the process! It excites me to work with someone who has a great concept, outline, rough draft (or nothing but a vague idea), and help them turn that into a book, a blog, or whatever their goal may be.

How Jane Does It.

I believe that relationship and communication are at the heart of a successful writing project. They make the difference between telling your story well or not. For that reason I focus on helping you first clarify your concept, goals, and strategies for your project. Then together we determine how my services can best assist in creating your masterpiece.

Ultimately, my goal is to make your project awesome. To do that will take a specific set of services fitted to your unique project. That usually includes some combination of these:

  • Project consultation
  • Reading and evaluation of manuscript/copy
  • Editing at various levels of intensity
  • Revision and rewriting
  • Ghostwriting
  • Coaching as you write for yourself
  • Publishing assistance

Write More. Write Better. Write Now.

I’m out to help you become the best writer you can be…with the best manuscript, web content, or book in your hands when we’re finished. And we can begin today!

Why Jane Does It.

I love people. Their hearts are amazing. Every person has a story. I have started conversations with total strangers, but before we part, they’ve at least hinted to me at some little piece of their story.

It’s true. You’ve lived your life this long. Here you are today, reading this right now. And you know in your own heart that, Yep! For sure, I do have a story!

What keeps YOUR story locked away inside while someone else’s story gets written?  The list is without end, but some of the most common reasons are:

  • I could never write a book.
  • Nobody is interested in my story.
  • Where would I begin?
  • Who has the time?
  • But that costs money.
  • I’ve never done anything worth writing about.

Which one of these best fits your own situation? The truth is, none of them is actually true…really. They are popular excuses whose purpose is to keep your story locked away inside your heart forever.

That is just wrong! That’s why I believe every story touches somebody somewhere. We are connected to each other through our stories, through our experiences, through lessons and knowledge learned. We gain wisdom and insight from sharing the stories of our lives. The world is a richer place because of all of us and our “stories.”

The greatest asset any of us has is simply our humanness. Technology is great, but sitting down and talking with someone is still the most effective, informative, and amazing skill we have. In that same way, a book or a blog has a wonderful ability to do that when we can’t be face-to-face!

Therefore, the written word comes into play. It adds to the depth and richness of our lives. Not the quickly clicked-out text message or Tweet, but that writing that slows down to experience the moment and lingers long enough to share the experience with others.
